Speckled Gray Bowl

A wood-fired stoneware bowl by Yoshio Kangawa, made in the anagama kiln he built himself in Hiroshima. Iron in the clay rises to the surface as dark specks, and the soft gray comes from the firing itself: clay, ash, and flame working together. No two are alike.

A softly rounded form set on a small foot. Ideal for matcha or soup, the subtle gray tone beautifully highlights the colors of whatever you serve in it.

With use, the clay absorbs oils and the surface deepens, so the bowl becomes more your own over time.

Care: Not dishwasher or microwave safe. Soak in water before first use.
