Shigeru Inoue has had a long career as a office worker . However, in 2009 he became interested in pottery and began attending a pottery class in Tokoname.
He had always had a love for minerals, and so he began making his own clay from scratch and creating his own glazes. In time, he started making pottery of his own.
For a while, he juggled his job and his passion for pottery, but in May 2016 he quit his job to pursue pottery full-time.
Inoue’s work is characterized by its innovative approach to traditional ceramic techniques and materials. He often explores the textures and forms that can be achieved through the manipulation of clay, incorporating various glazing and firing methods to produce unique pieces that reflect a deep respect for the craft while pushing its boundaries.
His works have been exhibited at various venues, including the Tokoname Kyoei Kiln in September 2014, the Hase Gallery in Nagoya in March 2016, a solo exhibition at Iremono in Tokyo's Sangenjaya in July 2016, and a planned exhibition at Kiki in Shizuoka in November 2016.
