Koji Takagi
He studied Philosophy in university. After graduation, he reached out to a potter in Kyoto and ended up living with him for a few years, learning first hand the basic skills of pottery.

He planned to work at a museum, but eventually realized he was passionate about making his own original pieces,

so he became a potter. He first makes the piece with red clay, and then layers on top with various colored clays (such as red, black, and white) to create an effect with depth and texture. This traditional technique is called “saidei.”

So I think his unique background complements his artwork/pieces and makes them even more interesting.
